In the various smaller centers of the Iblei, there are specific local features and particular fabrics that will be perpetuated until modern times. In Buccheri it is the ‘carpita’ that will be preserved over time, so much that is almost always present in the dowries of Buccheri brides.”

Buccheri is the highest municipality of the Iblei, one of the “Most Beautiful Sicilian Towns of Italy”, whose name probably comes from Arabic “bagara” which means “cow” or “Bukir” which means ”bulls herding”. Dafni, in a Greek myth, used to graze his cows and those of the gods with his flute. The territory is rich in forests (the Bosco di Fassino, Contessa and Pisano forests) and has been inhabited by humans since ancient times, as demonstrated by megalithic pastoral houses.

Buccheri, an agro pastoral civilization and also the homeland of the best carvers. The Monte Lauro highlands, with the ancient snow sheds, overlooks the town. From the Norman castle, a strategic position for the communication routes, you can view the Gulf of Catania and the mountains of Enna. Among the many churches you can admire, there is the church of S.Antonio Abate with its magnificent staircase.

Buccheri is the "World Capital of High-Quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil'' thanks to the precious olive called "Tonda Iblea" and the Best Culinary Destination in the World (Food Trekking Awards 2021).

The Buccheri HUB is interested in the "La Via dei Laghi" route and is the arrival point of stage n° 8 coming from Vizzini (14.3 km and 311 meters of difference in height) and the starting point of stage n° 9 heading towards Francofonte. This stage moves from the POINT in front of the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate and, after 22.1 km and 183 meters of difference in height, leads to the POINT of Villa Idria in Francofonte.
